Nifty Gadgets for when you head Away in Your Horse Float

Need Some Ideas or Keen to Find Things to Help Make Your Next Trip a Breeze?

Here's a list of things to consider having with you for a weekend away or when you travel with horses, to make your life easier and lighter!


I know some of you have the lovely luxury of having accommodation in your horse float, however, consider taking a look at these items to help make your next trip even easier.


I have tried and tested these products and have found them super useful for when I go away. I hope it helps you out. They are in no particular order.

Why this is awesome!

This all-in-one battery system is amazing for powering devices (think lights, heating/cooling, tablets/laptops etc.) for longer periods of time! It is so awesome it has a wireless mobile phone charger on the top! Plus, you can recharge it! Consider getting a solar blanket to keep this charged for the duration of your trip.

This is super handy when you need to take the heat out of the area you are sleeping/resting in. It's even rechargeable! So double winner there!

These are tri-colour! This is awesome because if you use orange light you will attract less pesky bugs! Also they stick to most magnetic surfaces so your car, some floats and so on which lights up your area really well at night. These can be used indoors or outdoors and are recharged by the sun.

One tool that does a heap of things like cut, clamp, screwdriver and so on (a cheaper version of a Swiss Army knife).

These are my go-to for carrying or transporting bales of hay. It keeps the mess at bay and is easy to pick up the bags.

I have many of these in different colours for different horses. You can put labels on them too to make it really clear. It is an amazing way to pre-prepare horse hard feed without having to take full bags of each type. Also available in different sizes which is super handy.

Handy when you are spending quite a few nights away from home and need to keep perishables.

I have one that lives in my car. You never know when you need to cut baling twine, boxes or anything like that. These have wonderful little replaceable blades you can get rather than having to chuck the knife out.

Versatile for all weather options for sleeping in.

For easy comfort layer on your stretcher or floor. This is the perfect option.

A little larger in size so you can fit more easily. It is super light and easy to put together. Pair with a self inflating mattress and you are super comfy!

I have 2 of these on my horse float which can safely carry drinkable water (so 90L if me or my horses need it)! Or you can do one with water and one with petrol? (Make sure you use the correct jerry cans for the intended contents.)

Handy and light. This table folds down into an easy-to-pack size. It gives you good space to eat off, put things on or a flat surface for whatever the need.

This larger chair has excellent storage for drinks, notepads, phones and other items so you can watch lessons or life go by with everything close at hand.

This mat doubles up as not only a shoe mat but one you can use to shower off with! Awesome 2-in-1 option for packing less.

Fantastic in that this is a light and a fan and only needs the sun to recharge. Perfect for indoors or outdoors use.

Handy to keep clean clothes separate from dirty and be able to do your laundry whilst you are away.

This is a game changer. This too can have a light colour choice. My tip is use orange if you don't want to attract the bugs. Easy to clip on to cap, pocket and other clothing items. Super light and the charge lasts a long time. Handy for any night time movement around the site.

Handy if you use make-up for competitions or other events. Great little compartments and doesn't spill everywhere when you open it!

This is an excellent option for toiletries all in one place. Compartments that are made to fit everything really well and stop things moving around. This one you can get in matching fabrics to the make-up bag above.

An amazing product that deals with ALL the business when it comes to toilets!

An easy one to pack as it takes up less room. A folding toilet. All you need are bags (and a bucket if you prefer) and you are good.

Handy if you need to wee on the go and/or struggle to squat to do your thing.

If you end up getting the above shower, make sure you get this compatible jerry can holder that works with the fittings of the portable shower.

Handy for warming up water for drinks or other means. Easily used on your battery power pack too!

This concept looks amazing. You would need to be able to heat/warm your water prior to filling this baby but it does mean you don't need batteries/power to use it. Plus it has a handy clip where you can attach it to hold the shower head up for hands-free operation.

This is handy and does both car tyres and float tyres (these are usually light truck tyres which need a higher PSI than regular vehicles). This also has the ability to jump start vehicle batteries too so an excellent 2-in-1 tool.
