Rabbit First Aid & Signs of Being Unwell

Be prepared to know the signs and ready for emegencies! Rabbits are very good at "hiding" their not feeling so well beviours until it escalates. Think about the fact that in the wild, rabbits are prey and need to move and will only not be repsonsive when it is too late.

Keeping a watchful eye on your rabbits well-being is part of this. What to look for:

  • Ears back

  • Lethargic

  • Not eating/drinking and not interested in treats

  • Sitting in a more tucked up position than usual

  • Potentially hardened tummy area (if there are any gut issues)

Ensure you have an emergency plan ready to go:

  • Have a pet carrier with a towel in it ready at all times

  • Add their favourite snacks and food/water to take with you to the vet
